We will continue to see the terrestrial planets of Venus and Mars dance in the western evening sky throughout the spring months and into the Summer.ĭuring the early evening hours of April, stargazers will be able to observe two of the four navigational starlines at the same time. This red color comes from the iron oxide that is present in the regolith of the planet. ![]() As it is usually seen either just after sunset or immediately before sunrise, Venus is often referred to as the “evening star” or the “morning star.”Ĭlose to the center of the sky in the early evening, the distinctive red planet Mars will stand out with its famous red color. Venus is the third brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the full Moon. During the early evening hours, the incredibly bright planet Venus will chase the sun into the horizon.
